Kildare County Council Launch Public Engagement Campaign and Community Grant Scheme
The Kildare Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) hosted a public meeting on 1 October to launch a public engagement campaign that will help inform the development of County Kildare's first Local Community Safety Plan. The campaign includes a countywide survey, consultation events and the launch of the Kildare Safe and Connected Community Grant Scheme.
The countywide survey is now open and provides residents, community groups, businesses and stakeholders with an opportunity to share their views on community safety, identify local priorities and help shape the actions that will be included in the Local Community Safety Plan. Feedback gathered through the survey and consultation process will play a key role in identifying priorities and informing the final Plan.
The meeting included a presentation from Sgt John Dunne, An Garda Síochána, on community policing initiatives across County Kildare along with an opportunity for public submissions to share their views and perspectives on community safety.
The event also marked the launch of the Kildare Safe and Connected Community Grant Scheme, a once-off funding opportunity supported by Kildare County Council and Local Property Tax (LPT) funding. The scheme will support communities in delivering projects that promote safety, inclusion and positive community engagement, helping to build safer, stronger and more connected communities across County Kildare.
Chairperson of the Kildare LCSP, Cllr Angela Feeney, said: "The development of Kildare's first Local Community Safety Plan is a significant milestone for the county and will help ensure that community safety priorities are identified and addressed through a coordinated partnership approach. Public consultation is a vital part of this process, providing communities with an opportunity to share their experiences, highlight local concerns and shape the actions that will be included in the Plan. We encourage everyone to get involved and have their say."
Marian Higgins, Director of Services for Community, Climate and Water Services, Kildare County Council, added: "The Local Community Safety Partnership provides an important platform for collaboration between communities, local government and statutory agencies. The survey and consultation process will help ensure that the Local Community Safety Plan reflects the experiences and priorities of people across County Kildare. We encourage everyone to take part and contribute to shaping the future of community safety in the county."
