Kildare County Council Announces Exciting Programme of Events for National Bike Week 2025
01 May 2025: National Bike Week will take place from Saturday, 10th to Sunday, 18th of May 2025. Bike Week is a celebration and promotion of the benefits of cycling including the opportunity for physical exercise, enjoying our local natural and historical heritage and contributing towards sustainable transport.
Kildare County Council in collaboration with the National Transport Authority have organised an action-packed week of events which will be held throughout the County to celebrate Bike Week 2025.
Cycle Events
Details of our upcoming events are listed below. We welcome people from all cycling disciplines to come along and get involved.
Sunday 11th May
Donadea Family Cycle Event, Donadea: 11am-12.30pm.
Old Entrance to Donadea Demesne, along Donadea Road, onto Dunmurraghill Road, back to Donadea Road and return to Donadea for refreshments.
History of Barrow Navigation Cycle at Glenaree/Cloncurry: 2pm- 4pm
Lock 22 on the Barrow Blueway, at Glenaree Bridge, Cloncurry and along the Barrow Blueway/Navigation towards Rathangan, with discussion about the engineering heritage of the Barrow Navigation and return for refreshments.
Wednesday 14th May
Mondello Park Student Cycle Event: 9am- 1pm
Thursday 15th May
Monasterevin Family Cycle Event: 6.45 pm- 8.45 pm
Monasterevin Town Centre to Barrow Blueway, along the Blueway to Fisherstown for refreshments and return to Monasterevin.
Saturday 17th May
Athy Family Cycle Event: 11am- 1.30 pm
Athy Sport Hub to Barrow Blueway, to the midway point for refreshments, onto Vicarstown and return.
Celbridge Town Heritage Cycle: 2pm-4pm
Castletown House entrance along the R405 Maynooth Road, to the R449 Shackleton Road with discussion of the local heritage of Celbridge and returning to Celbridge Town Centre for refreshments.
Sunday 18th May
Naas Family Cycle Event: 11am – 1.30pm
Naas Sports Hub via the Canal Road to Sallins Bypass, to Sallins for refreshments and return.
Refreshments will be provided at the Cycle Events for cyclists who have registered in advance by emailing Activetravel@kildarecoco.ie
Kildare County Council staff will attend all Cycle Events during Bike Week 2025.
